Jacob Frenkel

Dr Frenkel studied economics and political science at the University of Jerusalem and gained an M.A. and doctorate in economics at the University of Chicago. From 2000 to 2004 he was Chairman of Merril Lynch International. Between 1991 and 2000 he served two terms as Governor of the Bank of Israel. From 1987 to 1991, he was economic counsellor and director of research at the International Monetary Fund, and from 1973 to 1987 he was on the faculty of the University of Chicago where he served as the David Rockefeller Professor of International Economics. He is the recipient of honorary degrees and awards from various universities and governments.
