Phillip 'Daffy' Defreitas
Former Leicestershire and England All-round Cricketer
Phillip Defreitas is one of the most experienced players in the county game after making 44 Test and 103 one-day international appearances for England, including two World Cup finals. He retired a few months before his fortieth birthday, since then, Philip has made regular television appearances. He now teaches at Magdalen College School, Oxford.
Defreitas finished his first class cricket career as a genuine all-rounder with almost 11,000 first-class runs and more than 1,200 wickets
In detail
In the course of his 21 seasons in first-class cricket, Philip played for Leicestershire, Lancashire and Derbyshire. He also played for South African side Boland. Since his retirement he has attained his ECB qualifications and secured coaching roles at both Oxford UCCE and Nottinghamshire CCC developing first class talent. He also coached the Hong Kong cricket club.
