Chetan studied Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and graduated from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. He worked as an investment banker in Hong Kong for 11 years before he decided to devote his time to writing and make change happen in India. He is also a motivational speaker and has given talks to leading companies and institutions. He is considered a youth icon rather than just an author.
